About Me

I am an educator, a parent of a child with multi-disabilities, and a seasoned advocate for inclusive. I believe that ALL children should play! Unstructured, creative and imaginative play. Working on strengths not weaknesses. I will be sharing ideas about playgrounds, toys, disabilities, and my own personal story. You can learn more about what I do at my website www.letkidsplay.com. Toys for Children with and without Disabilities: Spooner Board

#17 in 50 Toys in 50 Days
Part of Let Kids Play annual Holiday Toy Guide

Using the Spooner Board, riders of all abilities can pretend they are catching a wave, riding the slopes, or burning up the asphalt without leaving the comfort of the family room. Designed for beginners, kids starting at age 3 can simulate spins, twists, slides, wobbles, and more, while getting a workout.  The wide base makes this perfect for working on gross motor skills including improving balance and coordination. Children of all ages and abilities can use the Spooner Board.  There are three sizes.  Spooner Boards are made in the US.

Here is a video where you can see all the different ways that a Spooner Board can be used.  The video is a little long, but you can get the idea within the first 30 seconds.
